Welcome, Nanangen

Nanangen is part of the Talaandig tribe’s rich oral tradition. In simple terms, it is a story or a folktale. Unlike the gugud (folk epic) or ulaging (poetry) with more serious undertones, nanangen is associated with entertainment and can be recited by anyone at anytime.

Story-telling is a basic social activity of the indigenous peoples. It is through these stories that their heritage is kept alive from one generation to another. More than that, these stories articulate their identity, dreams, aspirations, their collective spirit.
